Kenneth Gruskin recalls cutting up his mother's Better Homes & Garden magazines for pictures of houses he liked. He was 8 years old when he decided that he wanted to design homes like those he saw in the magazines.

The Bernardsville resident decided to pursue his dream. In his high school years, Gruskin researched the fields of graphic design, photography and industrial and interior design. Those early years of research helped formulate the business he runs today.

Gruskin, an architect, is principal and founder of Gruskin Group, an integrated design firm based in Springfield. The firm builds "unified brand experiences" through architecture, brand development, visual communications, web/interactive, industrial design, interior design, strategic consulting and sustainable design, he said.

The Gruskin Group is licensed in 47 states and Puerto Rico.
