Rider Insurance Doubles HQ Space

It's no coincidence that the recent renovation and expansion of Rider Insurance's headquarters here boasts a 1940s Industrial look and motorcycle exhlblts--Rider is the largest provider of motorcycle and ATV insurance in the state, and it doubled Its space at 120 Mountain Ave. here to 24,000 square feet.

"Our underlying concept was to imbue the facility with their inherent passion and to better align the headquarters experience with Rider's corporate values and beliefs," explains Kenneth A. Gruskin, principal and founder of locally based architecture firm Gruskin Group, which transformed the former colonial-style bank into its current look.

The new exterior resembles motorcycle factories

from the 1930s and 1940s, including rivet details and streamlined metal combined with multicolored brick. The lobby houses displays of motorcycle memorabilia, interactive kiosks resembling motorcycles, artwork and two classic bikes.

"The redesign of our headquarters allows us to keep pace with the demands of our growing business while accommodating future growth," says Rider Insurance president Charles Lally. "It also sends a clear message to motorcycle owners and enthusiasts that as a company we have an acute understanding of the unique mind set and needs of our customers."
